Copy is a beautifully designed app that makes Cloud storage a pleasure to use. When you sign up to the service you receive a complimentary 15GB with an additional 5GB for every friend to refer. Here is the great part: there is no limit on storage that you can earn from referrals. On their website it says “the average Copy referrer has earned well over 60GB of free storage, with the largest referrers earning space in the 10s of TBs”. Better start referring now!
Storage aside, we need to find out what this app actually does. Like many of the other cloud storage apps on the Play Store, Copy offers a service called ‘PhotoCopy’ which backs up all your photos that you take from your device. You can also control when the photos are uploaded: when your phone is on Wifi, when your phone is on charge or even both. A nice feature that makes sure you are not uploading photos when you are low on battery or have a limited amount of network data available.
You are able to set a passcode, so that all your files are safe and secure within Copy. In the settings you can control after what time a passcode is required. This applies to when you exit and then return to the app. If you return to the app within the allotted time then no passcode is required, making sure you are not constantly typing in your passcode whenever you open the app and driving you mad.
The layout of the app is very simple and easy to use. Displayed on the main page are you folders and on the left is a slide out menu with details about available storage. If you click on the three vertical dots on the far left of a folder, you are given some options to choose from. In the sharing options you can make the link secure, which means the recipient has to verify their email address before they are able to access the files. Copy has a “Fair Storage for All” initiative which allows you to share the storage of a shared file which simply cuts down on the storage that is used for the file.
Copy is also one of the first cloud storage applications to have a Chromecast feature. Once connected, you are able to cast photos onto your screen. Currently, only photos are available to cast, but we hope that you will be able to cast documents in the future.
Overall, Copy is a great Cloud storage app that does exactly what it is meant to do without any extra hassle. Are the few extra features going to persuade you to use it? You decide. However, being able to get more storage space from referrals is very handy and can get you more than enough storage at no extra cost.
