ScoutLog was developed to help you save locations with pictures, titles, and notes. It’s a unique way to remember your locations, you can save pictures as your locations, locate your locations on a world map. Also you can look under Tags to see multiple of your locations under a so called folder. ScoutLog is a beautifully UI designed app, and it has plenty of unique features that make this application different from the other location applications.
Upon opening the application, you are presented to a world map that will show your future pins of locations throughout the world map. You can filter between showing the terrain of the world map and not showing the terrain by tapping the globe icon in the upper-left corner. If you use a sliding gesture with your finger to the left of the screen to the right you are brought to the menu which allows you change throughout the three display modes: list, map, and grid. The list displays all of your saved locations in a list, the map displays all of your saved locations on the world map, and the grid displays all your saved locations on a grid in a 2×1 fashion. Then second in the menu is the ‘Browse by Tags’ options. Tags are something you have multiple or some locations under. Such as; Home has two locations under it, and it makes me easier to access or see my two locations by just looking under the Home tag rather than searching for my two locations throughout all of my locations. The ‘Search’ option on the menu allows you to search throughout all of your saved locations.
Last in the menu, the ‘Settings’ option presents you with plenty of options to customize the application to your liking, you can change the unit measurements depending on what you prefer; the Metric system, or the U.S. system. You can change the themes, either the light or dark theme. One of the neat things about ScoutLog is that there is an option that allows you to sign into your Google account and sync all of your locations throughout all of your devices, so you’re ready on the go with all of your devices!

Now, onto the interesting and fun parts of ScoutLog. You can create a location by tapping the plus icon in the upper-right corner. While creating a location, you can move between the Details and Photos tab, the Details tab lets you input all the information about the certain location, and the ‘Photos’ tab allows you to put a picture of the location up. After creating a location, you can tap it on the world map, and it will create a pop-up above the pinpoint on the map giving information on that certain pinpoint. When selected on the location, in the bottom right corner, there is two options: Navigation, or Google Maps which displays the location.
Overall, the application is a great application for someone who travels a lot, it is very beneficial and simple to use. It’s just starting out and it has over 80% of 5 star reviews, so I would say it has a promising start. It has tons of features that will help the user out in the long run, and ScoutLog has the potential to be a great application.
