A very solid device to device file sharing app, which brings the speed bump required for today's fast paced world.
File sharing via Wi-Fi Direct

It’s fairly common to share files among friends and Bluetooth has been a long preferred method to do so. Even with the advent of smartphones, this protocol is still in use. It’s funny that files can be downloaded more quickly than being sent over Bluetooth, but sometimes it’s the only way to go. But there is an app which can help speed up things considerably.
Superbeam uses Wi-Fi-direct to send files directly between devices, which makes it much faster. What’s more interesting is that it takes a second to pair devices and even works with NFC, if your device supports it. This is similar to the S-Beam feature of the Galaxy devices, but is available for many devices.
After installation, the quick guide goes through the sending and the receiving aspect of the app. The free version has some limitations, but works perfectly for normal uses. The paid app adds more features like sending and receiving folder structures and from the PC, which may come in handy.
Files can be sent via the user interface in the app or via the ‘send/share’ option in the general android system or file explorer of your choice.
There are 3 options to receive files.
- Scanning QR Code
- Manually entering key
Files can also be sent to other devices without the app, with a simple web interface.
Fairly simple to use, there isn’t much to tinker with. The app does remind you to enter your hotspot details if you use it frequently. There is also an option to change the theme, which is a nice touch.
Since many of my friends don’t have NFC, I generally sue the QR feature a lot. Wi-Fi connection can me made directly between devices or devices connected to a common Wi-Fi network. I would recommend sending files directly as it is much faster. The paid version of the app has more features and is a good buy.
If you have a habit of often sharing files with your friends, this app is definitely worth the download.
